Packbridge
Packbridge is an international packaging and logistics cluster formed in 2010. We are a rapidly growing network for the packaging industry and all its key stakeholders – customers, suppliers, researchers and innovators.
The intention with Packbridge is to create a platform that naturally links industry with academia, research with commercial applications, and – perhaps most important of all- people with people. http://eng.packbridge.se/
Packbridge offers its members services in education, technical and strategic consulting, research and development and an exciting mix of networking and cross-functional activities. “Breakfast with Packbridge” and “Packbridge after 3” are monthly recurring events that always attracts a large number of participants.
Packbridge is located at the southern tip of Sweden, Skåne, home of companies such as Åkerlund & Rausing, Tetra Pak and PLM. The region provides unique opportunities to network on a large scale. Here are researchers, innovations and communications well established together with clusters in the food and healthcare sector. Together they represent 80 % of the requirements for packaging in the community.
In a few years time, the ESS (European Spallation Source) will be operational and attracting the world’s leading materials scientists to the region. Packbridge has established close cooperation with ESS as packaging is a focus area for this gigantic neutron microscope.
We have also had an active role in the preparatory work in the establishment of two packaging-oriented higher educations, Packaging Technology and Packaging Production.
Packbridge also raises international enthusiasm. A Memorandum of Understanding was
signed with Korea National Food Cluster Foodpolis, a huge research centre for food and packaging which is being built up south of Seoul. Several partnerships are also established in Central Europe.
